Why the ‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ is my favourite Wanderlust Film

“I wanted to tell you, that song “Major Tom” and that beard guy… he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. That song is about courage and going into the unknown. It’s a cool song.”

When I first watched this film I was actually on a plane travelling to Atlanta. It was a daytime flight so sleeping wasn’t really an option. (If you see my previous post about Jet lag you’ll see why)
To tell the truth, I didn’t like it. I turned it off and found an another film. I don’t know why but I wasn’t just interested, the film itself I will admit is a little dry and not ALL that much happens.

Whilst I had a day off work a couple of months ago I realised that it was on sky movies. For some reason, I was in such a place where I thought I would give it another whirl. I’m glad I did,
Firstly, the cinematography is out of this world. If I didn’t want to go to Iceland before, I most certainly do now….and Greenland…and the mountains of Afghanistan. Ahh.

The story line itself is really ‘cute’. In short it is the tale of a man (Walter Mitty ) who had never done anything extraordinary with his life and spends most days fascinating over possibilities. An opportunity arose and he took it. He just went. This is something which I truly believe in and fully endorse. Taking chances- Ah I can’t even explain.

The film will totally connect to anyone that suffers with wanderlust and will make anyone else fall in love with the world and all of its possibilities too. Travel is one of few things that can really change your life if you let it.  This film shows that.

Stop dreaming. Start Living.

“Walter Mitty: To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”

The scene below is by far my favourite
Enjoy.
